Need Financing For Your Business?

Posted by on Feb 06 2008

One of the biggest challenges to starting or expanding your business is finding financing. Yes, you can check with your local bank or credit union. You can use your credit cards (though I wouldn’t recommend this method!). You can borrow from family or friends. You can use your savings.

But if these methods don’t work, here are three places you can borrow from other people:

More and more, individual people are willing to pool together to lend money to each other. You simply indicate how much you want to borrow and what interest rate you’ll pay, and individuals can pledge money towards your loan. Read the rules and information on each site to determine which one is best for you.

Hi Karyn, interesting post on your blog. This year I gave many of my clients a gift certificate of $25 to – an online company which gives microloans to small business owners – usually individuals – in third world countries. I didn’t know that there were organizations here in the States that were following the same business model. I think it’s a great idea and I’m glad to see it emerging as a viable funding option for small business owners. Thanks for filling us in.

I love the idea of a gift certificate to one of these not-for-profit organizations. I think they’re doing great work for small business owners, who sometimes just need a small loan to pay for their website or mail a postcard campaign.
