  1. Hi Karyn,

What a great video response to a reader’s question! I really appreciate the time you took to put together this video. The information you provided is exactly on the mark. If you want people to remember your domain name step 1 should be to make it memorable! The shorter the better, but at the same time if the domain name is too short then it will leave your readers or customers lost as well. If your domain does not describe or hint at what the site has to offer then you could be losing a lot of valuable traffic.

I am looking forward to next Tuesday’s video answering questions!

The bigger question is “Should I name my business after myself, or what I do for customers?” Peter Montoya would say, “Name it after yourself,” but I can see real benefit in naming your business based on the problem you solve or the dream you fulfill.

  3. Hi Karyn,

Enjoyed your clip. I personally always want a domain name that says what I do or what my clients do. I think it’s even better when the domain name has some key words in it. But that’s just me.

I’ll be on the lookout for more of your videos. I love them as they are short and to the point.

  6. Good advice from Karyn. You could also go ahead an buy more than one domain name and have them all point at the same website.

Domain names still help with search results in Google.

With Google’s newest set of algorithm changes, I’m finding that having the keywords in the domain name is huge. People are ranking #1 for brand new sites, sites with hardly any content or link-backs, just because of their domain name.
