For more than 25 years, I have worked with individuals and
organizations to implement strategies for growth. My career began in the
television industry where, after a brief period in network television and
commercial production, I became one of the pioneers in the application of
videotape and multimedia in corporate communications.
In 1974, I started my first business, producing and packaging training and
communications programs for some of the leading companies in the US. During
this exciting time, I had the privilege of learning from some of the top
executives in the world of business. Realizing that success was as much
internal work as outer action, I became interested in philosophy and
spirituality and began a lifelong study of these subjects.
In 1987, after a personal meltdown (a nice way of saying "crash and burn":-)
I began rebuilding my life and continued my quest for knowledge. I became a
self-help "junkie," devouring every book and audio I could find. I began
applying these ideas and started seeing significant changes in my life.
Wanting to share what I had learned, I began writing my Jim's Jems
newsletter and newspaper and magazine articles.
In 1992, recognizing a need for a publication to provide training and
information to the local business community, I began the Small Business
Gazette, which later became the Bucks County Business Journal. In addition,
my articles and columns have been published in numerous personal growth and
business magazines and newsletters and continue to do so today.
As a result of applying these ideas and techniques to my own life, I have
risen to a position of international recognition as an author, seminar
leader and coach. I have, as they say, "Walked my talk." Seeing the results
in my own life, I was inspired to write and publish my first book, the
original version of Handbook to a Happier Life, which quickly became
a worldwide success. This caused a major shift in my life and my work. I
have since gone on to write five books.
