Navigate Your Small Business Consulting Practice in 2020

Here's a unique group mentoring program exclusively for people who sell services to small business owners and solo entrepreneurs.

Do You Need to Increase Revenue and Reach?

When you first began as a small business consultant — whether you're a strategy consultant, copywriter, marketing expert, or website designer — the focus was on getting your first few small business clients and building a profitable business.

As you look toward the future, the challenge is how to take your business to the next level, how to maintain and increase your income, without feeling stressed and overwhelmed, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is a challenging time for all small business owners and we need to pivot our own business while helping our clients pivot theirs.

Your primary focus should be on creating a business and marketing model to get you through the next 3 months -- one that is flexible enough that it can change as world events change, but wise enough that it doesn't erode what you've built or put you in a poor position later this year.

Welcome to the Compass Master Program

Whether you call yourself a coach, consultant, trainer, designer or any other type of service professional, if you are serious about assisting other small business owners and solo entrepreneurs, then this program is for you.

Compass Consultant Master Program

This is not a training class, it's a private group mentoring program.

It's customized to your goals and challenges, so we can brainstorm solutions to current problems.

This unique mentoring program is for small business consultants who serve solo entrepreneurs and small business owners. You can immediately apply the tips and advice you receive, both in your own business development and in serving your clients.

Do you work directly with the business owner and help entrepreneurs get the results they seek? Then the Compass Mentoring Program is for you!

Do you have these goals?

  • Business Growth ― Grow your consulting practice, increasing revenues annually and serving more clients. It's about creating steady and sustainable revenue streams and serving a larger audience.
  • Business Model Strategy ― Have a crystal-clear, flexible vision of your business model, one which lets you maintain and grow without making mistakes you'll have to fix later.
  • Getting Things Done ― Be more efficient in running your consulting business, both when working with clients and in the back-office administration, so you can reduce stress, and allow things to flow naturally.

Tap into the Flow of Clients and Community

There are over 25 million small business owners with less than 9 employees who need help with business strategy, marketing, website design, organizing their bookkeeping, and so much more.

And they desperately need your help...if you know how to tap into this marketplace and sell to the small business owner.

Small business consultants and coaches have come to me over the past 20 years, asking for mentoring and guidance about building their own small business consulting practice. I've been through 9/11 and the Great Recession, and I'm sure I'll weather COVID-19, too. I took some important lessons from those first two economic crises, and the most important was this: learn how to pivot quickly and make smart, strategic decisions in the midst of chaos.

I've created this program for people like you who want mentoring with a seasoned small business consultant, and the special dynamic, support and wisdom-sharing that private mentoring groups provide.

Why Get Mentored by Me?

I've been a consultant to small business owners for 20 years — and I have made all the mistakes a consultant can make! I can teach you what to do, and what not to do, and shortcut your learning curve tremendously. I've made an investment in years of study and hands-on experience...let me share that with you.

I taught my first business building class to a group of entrepreneurs in 1996. I have designed the Compass Master Program based on my years as a small business coach, consultant and trainer, and my 30+ years as a small business owner.

  • I have owned five businesses and sold three of them.
  • I have served small business clients in 48 industries, and I bring that world of knowledge directly to you.
  • I have taught over 280,000 students the business and personal development skills they need in order to grow and streamline their businesses.
  • I have designed over 50 business development classes and have written seven books. I've been running my two blogs for nearly 20 years. These help me leverage my intellectual property.

With all this skill and experience, I know quite a few shortcuts — ways to help you acquire skill and grow your own consulting business.

My work with Karyn has been very productive. Her experience building exactly the type of consulting business that I am trying to do more effectively has been invaluable, she has saved me multiple steps of research --and trial and error --just by sharing this experience.

By having her in my corner I have found myself able to focus on what is really most important in building my consulting business, rather than being distracted by many things that can be done further down the road.

She is fun to work with, each meeting has really addressed the step that I needed to focus on. I am very grateful to have found her and to have decided to take the step of using her as my consultant and mentor, rather than trying to go it alone.

What's Included in the Compass Master Program

Two group mentoring meetings a month for 3 months

I know you're busy, so I'm offering two meetings a month so you can select the one that works with your calendar -- or come to both meetings!

We meet for three months, beginning on April 7 and ending on July 7.

This will help you navigate through the next three months with my support and the support of a community as new challenges arise.

We meet for 90 minutes, twice a month, via ZOOM video conferencing:

  • The first Tuesday of each month at 2:00 pm eastern/10:00 am pacific
  • The fourth Thursday of each month at 2:00 pm eastern/10:00 am pacific

This "two weeks on then two weeks off" approach allows you to quickly remove roadblocks and then gives you time between meetings to implement your action plan.

NOTE: I scheduled the meetings on two different days of the week so that you can always come to at least one meeting if you have a calendar conflict with the other day of the week. We meet on the first Tuesday and the fourth Thursday.

Access to me between meetings in our private LinkedIn Group

You know, problems and questions arise between our group meetings! So I'm giving you access to our private LinkedIn Group, where you can ask me questions between meetings.

Is This the Right Mentoring Program for You?

This program is designed for serious, motivated, achieving people who want to navigate these challenging times and serve their small business clients better.

  • If you are completely committed to your consulting practice, and you are wholeheartedly devoted to solving problems and strengthening your skill set and mindset, then this program is for you.

Getting organized around our brand position and message has been something that we always wanted to devote our energy to, but struggled with. Karyn gave us enormous confidence around how strong our brand could be, and identified the tactics to build better brand awareness. She added tremendous value in everything from naming challenges (our company name) to how to ensure that we were viewed as authorities in our space. We are concurrently undertaking a rebranding while employing Karyn's suggested tactics that demonstrate our expertise and drive more sales. Karyn helped Build Consulting focus where and how to invest our energy – without her counsel it's hard to imagine where we would be now.

Ron Escoffery

I thought I knew my material extremely well, but was stuck at the same place for over a year. I had knowledge but did not know just how to market my business consulting firm. I decided to put my ego aside and seek help. Karyn's grasp of my situation was humbling and her ability to let me understand that knowledge is necessary but organization, clarity and marketing is required for true and sustainable success. I walked away with much clarity on my small business owner niche and how to market to them.

I like her coaching approach: she takes time to get to know you, then she gets to understand the goals you're trying to achieve, then together develop a plan. Thanks Karyn.

Karyn, what a difference a few months can make!

When I came to you for coaching, I was excited and confident about working with my clients, but feeling "stuck," confused and nearly overwhelmed trying to run my small business.

Today, I feel happy, expectant, and focused! I've clarified my business goals and started taking action with purpose. Marketing was a huge problem for me, and now, with my "symphony" of marketing techniques, I have a boost of confidence, and I can see the early results from my efforts.

It's a great relief to understand what I need to do and why. And, I've picked up so many tips from you that I'll have nuggets to munch on for weeks to come.

I hardly feel like the same person anymore, and I'm truly grateful.
